General Frequently Asked Questions

PJAMA FAQ's

WHY SHOULD I USE PJAMA?

Pjama is a unique product for both children and adults who suffer from bedwetting. It is a pyjama that protects the bed and mattress when an accident happens. The urine is absorbed by the pants, keeping the bed dry. They are discreet and look just like regular pyjama pants, which makes them perfect for sleepovers. No one but the wearer will know if an accident happens.

Pjama can be re-washed again and again, and they are an environmentally friendly alternative to other disposable products available on the market.

IS PJAMA AVAILABLE IN OTHER COLOURS?

No, Pjama treatment pants and shorts only come in grey, and Pjama original pants and shorts in blue.

HOW DOES PJAMA WORK?

Pjama contains a super absorbent material which makes sure no moisture leaves the pants/shorts. The material also makes sure the wearer gets immediate feedback that he/she wet the bed. This is an important aspect of the treatment of bedwetting.

DOES PJAMA SEEM TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE?

HOW CAN A PYJAMA STAY DRY WHEN WETTING IN IT?

We know, it is super cool and weird at the same time.

Pjama is made of soft tencel, a breathable waterproof membrane and a superabsorbent material that makes urine stay in the pants. All fabrics are Oeko-Tex certified.

PJAMA IS MADE OF:

  • Hydrophobic material at waist and ankles/knee folds, superabsorbent material in critical areas. (1)
  • An outer waterproof and soft layer that breathes very well. (2)
  • An inner material that is soft and smooth on the inside. The material can absorb fluid and is made with capillary breaking properties. (3)

In other words, Pjama is a super awesome way for both children and adults to keep the bed dry at night. And to look great while wearing them.

HOW DO I USE PJAMA CORRECTLY?

For the best comfort and effect, underwear should not be worn with the Pjama pants/shorts. It is important to choose the right size as the Pjama pants/shorts should fit properly around the waist and close to the skin, without being too tight. Remember to not tuck a t-shirt in the pants/shorts since the liquid can travel through the t-shirt onto the bed linen. Read more about ‘how to use Pjama’.

FOR THE PERFECT PJAMA EXPERIENCE, READ BELOW HOW TO USE YOUR PJAMA’S

IF YOU ARE USING PJAMA AS CONTINENCE AID

Make sure you have the right size so that it tightly fits the waist (not too tight). Use the waistband to adjust if necessary. Make sure to look at our size guide before purchasing your Pjama.

When you have accidental wetting, the Pjama inner layer absorbs the urine whilst staying dry on the outside protecting the bedding. The wearer senses when the Pjama becomes moist inside. The Pjama is not designed to be dry on the inside but discreetly provides feedback to the wearer when they are wetting themselves. Please see below regarding using our alarm to educate and overcome the problem of bedwetting for the child.

Pjama is made of a material that has antibacterial properties to avoid possible rashes. However, we cannot guarantee that a wearer with sensitive skin will not experience rashes.

IF YOU ARE USING PJAMA AS A BEDWETTING TREATMENT SOLUTION

  • When preparing, make sure your child is included and aware of the procedure if an accident happens. Make sure to test the alarm before using it on the child for the first time.
  • Choose alarm signal and volume on your speaker.
  • Download the Pjama app and connect it to the parents’ phone. This will give the parent an indication that an accident has occurred.
  • Attach the sensor to your pants/shorts.
  • Do not keep the speaker more than 20 meters away from the sensor.
  • When the alarm goes off, wake your child and go to the bathroom. It is important for the child to wake up.
  • Remove the sensor, turn the pants/shorts inside out, and wash them.
  • Do not forget to log the accident in your Pjama app so you can keep track on your child’s progress.

Make sure to test the alarm before using it on the child for the first time. Let the child be involved in choosing what sound they want the alarm to make when it goes off. Then try out the alarm to teach the child what to do and what to expect when the alarm goes off.

DO I STILL NEED SHEET AND/OR MATTRESS PROTECTION?

No. When an accident occurs the Pjama absorbs all the urine and will remain dry on the outside. This means that the bed linen and mattress are protected.

WHAT'S THE LIFESPAN OF A PJAMA PRODUCT?

How long a Pjama will last depends a lot on how it is handled. The hardness of the water, the detergent used and how it is washed and dried affects the lifespan. Just like it does for other garments. Read more about how to get the most out of your Pjama here!

YES, YOU CAN WASH AND DRY YOUR PJAMA LIKE ANY OTHER PYJAMAS

Pjama is a washable, and reusable product that is easy to use. For the longest life of the product please follow these guidelines:

  • If you have been using the alarm sensor, please remove it before washing.
  • Turn Pjama inside out so that the waterproof membrane does not keep the liquid inside the shorts and pants.
  • Rinse out the Pjama before washing and make sure to wash it as soon as possible.
  • Wash with garments with similar colours.
  • Do not wash your Pjama with sharp objects. For example, zippers, bras or other metals.
  • Wash at a maximum temperature of 60°C.
  • Finish the washing programme at high spin speed cycle. If your washing machine does not have a high spin speed cycle you might need to spin and drain one more time.
  • Do not dry clean, use fabric softener or iron the product.

The unique features of the Pjama leads to a longer drying time of the product in comparison with other textile garments.

DRYING YOUR PJAMA

Pjama contains an absorbent material which affects the drying time. How long it takes depends on several factors including humidity, the temperature in the room and the effeciency of the washing machine’s high spin speed.

To keep the drying time as short as possible it is good to:

  • Dry Pjama’s inside out, either outdoors or at room temperature. It is also possible to tumble dry Pjama
  • If you use a tumble dryer make sure the temperature does not exceed 60°C.
  • In humid climates it can take 1-2 days for Pjama to line dry.
  • Depending on your dryer Pjama might not feel completely dry when taking it out of the dryer. Hang it on the line for an hour and it should feel dry.

DOES PJAMA WORK WHILE SITTING?

Depending on whether you sit up or lie down the moisture will end up in different spots. Pjama is designed and tested for use when lying down. No tests have been performed for using Pjama when sitting.

MY PJAMA IS LEAKING, WHAT IS WRONG?

In many cases the product is being used incorrectly. This can be due to things like the size is too big or that a t-shirt is tucked into the Pjama. It can also be due to the person using Pjama voiding multiple times throughout the night without waking up and in the end the total amount of urine voided is above the absorption capacity of that specific size.  Please check the size guide listing the absorption capacity for each size.
If you discover a manufacturing defect, contact us and we will handle the case.

WILL MY PJAMA SMELL?

Pjama is made of textiles that have antibacterial properties to reduce the odor coming from urine. However, we cannot guarantee that they are completely odorless due to that the smell from urine varies greatly from person to person, depending on things like what you eat and drink.

It is important that washing and drying is done correctly to avoid problems with the odor. Additional tips are to rinse out the Pjama before washing them, and to wash them as soon as possible.

ARE THERE OTHER SIZES THAN THE ONES SHOWN IN THE SHOP?

No, we only offer the sizes you see on the product pages. Unfortunately it is not possible to offer alternative sizes at this time.

MY SON IS 12-YEARS OLD, WHAT SIZE SHOULD WE USE?

The Size Guide shows what size you need. The sizes are categorised by length, for example 134/140 is for a person who is between 134-140 cm tall.

Frequently Asked Questions about Pjama treatment Range

PJAMA BEDWETTING TREATMENT

CAN I USE MEDICINE AT THE SAME TIME AS WE USE THE ALARM?

Yes, but we recommend not to. If your alarm treatment is not successful, then you could ask a doctor if medicine might help your child.

WHEN SHOULD PARENTS SEEK BEDWETTING TREATMENT?

If your child is wetting the bed at the age of 5+ years, you should seek help from a doctor.

DOES BEDWETTING SUBSIDE WITHOUT TREATMENT?

Most children will grow out of wetting the bed, but this can take years and can cause frustration. Our recommendation is to get help and treat the problem.

MY CHILD IS A HEAVY SLEEPER. WILL THE TREATMENT DISRUPT HIS/HER SLEEP?

Every child is different. In the beginning it is important that the adult wakes up with the alarm to wake the child up and take them to the bathroom. After a while the child will learn to wake up when the alarm goes off.

BEDWETTING ALARM

BEDWETTING ALARM

HOW DO I GET STARTED USING THE ALARM?

The alarm is really easy to use. Connect the sensor to the pants or shorts. Turn on the alarm and choose an alarm signal and volume that is suitable.  You are ready to go.

MY ALARM DOES NOT WORK

Make sure that the sensor is connected to the pants/shorts. If the alarm still is not working, please contact us atsupport@e3health.com.au

HOW DO I CONNECT THE ALARM TO MY PHONE?

The alarm is easy to connect to your phone. Just download the app and make sure that bluetooth is enabled on your phone.

When you leave your home and come back there is no need to do anything.  The sensor automatically connects with the phone as long as Bluetooth and the Pjama App are running.

HOW CAN I TEST THE ALARM TO KNOW IT IS WORKING?

To test if the alarm is working you can short-circuit the sensor.

If you have the Pjama Bedwetting Alarm use a metal object like a pair of scissors or a nail for a few seconds. The alarm signal will be activated when it is working.

If you have Pjama Connect put a drop of Water on your Pjama Connect Sensor. The alarm on your phone will go off indicating that the alarm is working.

I HAVE TRIED TO TEST THE ALARM SEVERAL TIMES BUT IT DOES NOT WORK. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

After you short circuit the alarm you have to wait 1 minute before short circuiting the alarm again. Is it possible you have tried to short circuit the alarm too quickly the second time?

OUR CHILD SLEEPS THROUGH THE ALARM AT THE HIGHEST VOLUME, WHAT DO WE DO?

It is common for children that suffer from bedwetting to sleep deeply. That is why it is important to wake up the child when the alarm goes off so they will learn they had an accident.

You can easily connect the alarm to your phone and by alerting you when the child is urinating you can help the child with waking up.

To be able to treat bedwetting it is very important that the child wakes up when they have a urinary accident.

I CAN'T SEE THE ALARM UNIT IN THE LIST OF PAIRED BLUETOOTH DEVICES ON OUR PHONE

The alarm unit is automatically paired with your phone when the Pjama App is being installed on your phone as long as Bluetooth is already activated.

There is therefore no need to pair the alarm with the phone after the Pjama App is installed.

The alarm connection is not listed as an active unit on your phone because we are using the Bluetooth broadcast protocol.

HOW DO YOU ACTIVATE THE ALARM UNIT?

The alarm unit is activated by pressing the on/off button, and the selected alarm signal will sound between 5 to 8 seconds. A red LED light is then flashing, indicating that the alarm unit is on.

DURING THE NIGHT THE MOBILE ALARM TURNS ON BUT NOT THE ALARM UNIT

The alarm unit operates in parallel with the phone. Is it possible that the alarm unit was not turned on? The alarm unit does not work while it is being charged.  Could it be possible that the alarm unit was connected with the charger cable during the night?

I ACTIVATE THE ALARM UNIT AND THE RED LED LIGHT IS FLASHING AND THE ALARM SIGNAL GOES OFF. TO TEST IF THE ALARM UNIT IS WORKING I SHORT CIRCUIT THE SENSOR WITH A METAL OBJECT. THEN THE ALARM ON THE PHONE GOES OFF BUT NOT THE ALARM UNIT. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

It could be possible that the sensor has lost its connection/pairing with the alarm unit and you manually have to pair the alarm unit with the sensor. Proceed by doing this:

Press the volume and alarm signal buttons simultaneously for a total of 3 seconds. Then short circuit the sensor by using a metal object for a few seconds. The alarm unit indicates that it is paired with the sensor by sounding the alarm.

HOW DO I RUN THE ALARM SOLELY ON THE PHONE AND NOT THE ALARM UNIT?

To only use the alarm on your phone you have to turn off the alarm unit.  It is important that you download the Pjama App to your phone with Bluetooth enabled so when running the app the sensor can connect with your phone automatically via Bluetooth.

I HAD ACCIDENTALLY WASHED THE SENSOR AND HAVE ORDERED AND RECEIVED A NEW SENSOR TO BE USED WITH THE PJAMA BEDWETTING ALARM UNIT. HOW DO I CONNECT THE NEW SENSOR TO THE ALARM UNIT?

Each sensor is connected to a particular alarm unit and therefore you need to pair the new sensor with your existing alarm unit. Press on the volume and alarm button simultaneously for a total of 3 seconds. By doing that, the alarm unit is ready for pairing with the new sensor. Then short circuit the new sensor by using a metal object for a few seconds. The alarm unit indicates that it is paired with the new sensor by activating the alarm signal.

I HAVE BOUGHT PJAMA CONNECT AND THE SENSOR ONLY WORKS WHEN I SHORT CIRCUIT IT. IN ADDITION, THE SENSOR IS NOT CONNECTED THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE NIGHT AND IS DISCONNECTED IN THE MORNING. THE PHONE IS APPROXIMATELY 1 METER FROM THE SENSOR AND THE PHONE CANNOT LOCATE THE PJAMA CONNECT SENSOR.

The connection with the alarm is not listed as an active unit on your phone as we are using Bluetooth Broadcast. The sensor is always connected with your phone as long as you are running the Pjama App on your phone with Bluetooth turned on. The sensor does not need to be paired with the phone, it is enough to install the Pjama App and keep it running. Could it be possible that the Pjama App on your phone was not activated?

Note that Iphones and Android phones have a setting ( depending on os version ) that should not be enabled. It is called … app not to be refreshed when running in the background or similar.

HOW MANY PHONES CAN BE CONNECTED WITH THE SENSOR?

A maximum of 8 phones.

AFTER CHARGING THE ALARM UNIT, HOW LONG DOES THE CHARGE LAST?

Approximately 1-2 weeks depending on how much you use it.  The red LED light flashes with shorter intervals when you need to charge the alarm unit.

HOW LONG DOES THE BATTERY IN THE ALARM UNIT LAST?

At least a year.

THE ALARM UNIT HAS STOPPED WORKING. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

The alarm unit does not work when you charge it.  Can it be possible that you have had the charger cable connected to the alarm unit?

APPROXIMATELY HOW LONG DOES THE ALARM ON THE PHONE TAKE TO ACTIVATE AFTER THE PJAMA CONNECT SENSOR HAS BECOME WET?

It can take from 0 to 3 seconds for the alarm to activate when there is an accident. According to clinical experts a reaction time of 0 to 3 seconds is acceptable.

WE HAVE HAD A FEW FALSE ALARMS WHAT SHOULD WE DO?

Our quality department suggest you to pair the alarm unit with the sensor as it can be possible the connection has been lost.

To pair the sensor with the alarm unit, press the volume and alarm button simultaneously for a total of 3 seconds. Then short circuit the sensor by using a metal object like a pair of scissors or a nail for a few seconds if you have the Bedwetting Alarm Unit System. The alarm unit indicates that it is paired with the sensor by activating the alarm signal.

If you have the Pjama Connect Alarm, put a drop of Water on your Pjama Connect Sensor. The alarm on your phone will go off indicating that the alarm sensor is paired with your phone.

DOES THE SENSOR CORRODE IF IT IS COVERED BY URINE FOR A WHOLE NIGHT?

Urine can cause oxidation of metal, but the functionality is intact if it is not exposed to too much urine. We recommend to wash the sensor after each use and dry it.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO SEND A NOTIFICATION OF A URINARY ACCIDENT TO AN APPLE WATCH IF YOU HAVE THE PJAMA APP INSTALLED ON YOUR PHONE?

No, this functionality does not exist right now.

App FAQ's

PJAMA APP

WHY DO YOU HAVE TO SHARE YOUR LOCATION IN THE PJAMA APP?

The reason to share your location is that we send messages to our users about the treatment and how it progresses at 6pm local time.  Because we have users worldwide we avoid having messages sent in the middle of the night if we know the location of the user.

I CAN ONLY REGISTER ONE INCIDENT PER NIGHT. IS IT POSSIBLE TO REGISTER MORE THAN ONE INCIDENT?

It is only possible to register one incident per night. From a medical perspective, it is only the first incident that is of interest for the treatment process thus we have only made it possible to register one incident.

WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO TO REGISTER AN INCIDENT DURING THE NIGHT TO MAKE SURE THE DATA IS SAVED? HOW LONG SHOULD WE WAIT BEFORE WE REGISTER THE INFORMATION IN THE PJAMA APP?

The phone needs to be in close proximity to the user and the sensor to allow the alarm to activate when there is an accident and make it possible for the App to register the time of when the alarm is activated. The distance between the phone and the sensor can vary depending on the type of phone being used but we recommend to keep a distance of no more than 10 meters. It is also important that Bluetooth is turned on in the Pjama App so that the alarm goes off.

If the alarm is not activated when an accident occurs it could be possible that the distance between the phone and the sensor is too far apart. The Bluetooth technical specification reach is determined to be at a maximum of 10 meters for a reliable connection, as per Ericsson, the inventor of Bluetooth.

THERE IS A RED RING AROUND A FEW DATES IN THE CALENDAR, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

The red ring around the date means the registration of information is incomplete. For example, when you register the time of going to bed, and press save, a red ring appears around that date. When the alarm activates during the night the ring will be filled solid. If you have a few nights with a red ring around the date it could mean that the phone was not close enough to the sensor when the alarm went off and thus automatic registrations cannot take place. It is however possible to later manually register the time for the accident.
